Is there a way to rotate a complete model, including all layers in model view? I hope this is not a basic thing, because I can’t work it out.

    Hi Baino,

Yes you can but there are some items that will not rotate.  In general most will and when you draw a rectangle around all, and right click, the ‘Rotate ‘ Option should be available.

    1. First you must Turn Off , ‘ Select elements on current location only….’

With this option OFF, you can draw the mouse rectangular loop around all layers that you have turned ON in the View Filter.

To change the default setting go to Settings (way up on top bar)> Document Settings > Building Aids and uncheck Select Elements……….

    2. Then you must delete all dimensions you have in the model. They will not rotate.

    3. BUT if you draw selecting box rectangular loop around everything and right click ,select MIRROR,  dimensions will mirror.

So if Mirror is enough use it.  Otherwise lose Dimensions and select the Rotate option.

1 Turn OFF  Select elements on current location only….’

2 Lose Dims and Select everything >right click > Rotate

3 Or leave Dims / Select All > Mirror

There may be some items that will not rotated like dims, if you don’t see Rotate option, look for those items and turn them off or delete them.

    Baino,

Attached is a Rotate sample mainly showing that on the bottom Right , I have turned off most all options except Ortho, which forces Rotation or Mirror to be at 90 degs.  When I select ALL, with Mirror I then draw vertical line ‘in center’ and new model appears on the left .

With Rotate, you select all and then click on a corner, hold mouse button down and move mouse to rotate. Ortho forces it to be 90 degs.

In the second attachment you see some of the options for both Rotate “R” on top and Mirror ‘M’ on bottom.

Note that the Mirror option has Dims but limited arrangements. You can also see I didn’t mouse cursor loop all the dims on the bottom , so they were not Mirrored.

The Rotate had the dims OFF – deleted.

EDIT – the small items in both are some bath fixtures, interior objects, chairs , appliance and text. All rotated or mirrored.

Thank you  for a very full instruction Jack.  Yes, like you say there are a few items that won’t rotate. No big deal, as I most commonly do dims in worksheet mode anyway and furniture items etc don’t feature big in my drafting. I did try rotating my model last week and nothing happened using the exact method you suggest which included the warning

First you must Turn Off , ‘ Select elements on current location only….’

    but it did nothing.

My screen doesn’t always show the result of an action until I zoom in then out with the mouse scroll to refresh the screen. So I Don’t know what that’s about.  Anyway I gave up on it.  This latest Dell laptop doesn’t seem to have the grunt of previous machines that I’ve had, and things happen a bit slower.

Anyway, your method worked a treat.

    Chris
