    Hello,
What is the best way to add roof support posts on a desk created with the deck wizard? I was able to get a railing but didn’t see a way to extend the railing posts up to a roof beam to support a roof.

I’m sort of a newbee. Used version 4&5 for a short time years ago. Version 12 has a lot going on.

You can place a post on top of the posts used for the handrail and adjust them for the roof.
    You using the metric catalogue?

An alternate method is to set the post height in the railings dialog to the support height you want. See photo.

Hi Virtual-Architec, your idea works well until the handrail down the stairs, the posts for the handrail being roof height so the posts at the bottom of the stairs are roof height as well.
If a post is put on top of the handrail posts it allows you to change post height as you want. In my copy of Emvisioneer if I make the handrail posts roof height, all the posts are the same height.
Hard to make the roof slope with posts showing on top of the roof.

For roofs that are ‘level’ , Ed’s (VA) comments are fine. Flowers comments work well for both a ‘level’ and sloped roof.
You can also experiment, especailly for a sloped roof of using a wall. Just size it to post dim and draw one out making it’s length equal to post dim. Copy it as needed and elevate it (up or down) to match post height.
If you place the ‘wall’ / post, on the same level as the roof, it will extend automatically, when set, to the roof.
Not the easist thing to do but another option.

jeez can’t edit previous posts? that sucks.
I use the Measure Stick to adjust the added post heights to the stair and auto extend raises them to roof.
jeez two, can only add one image? that also sucks

my one image per posting of wall sized / set / elevated with auto extend to create stair posts all the way up. Which you don’t need but it can be done.

Please look at this post to see I meant to type ‘third’ not ‘thrid’ in previous post.
