Going to be redrawing all of my old, old stuff from the FloorPlan 8.2 (Envisioneer subset) days.  Those were just buildings, no Terrain, Landscaping, etc.  Now I’m wanting all of those plus interior wall documentation for plumbing, electrical and such.  Majority of the work here is DIY and so sometimes I can get carried away with the detail since I’ll be doing it.  Example: I’ll want to show the routing for each of the circuits and that will probably be drawn on several layers (locations).  In some ways, a single drawing turning locations on/off would be convenient, but it might just be too complex.  Never had a choice in the old days – do too much and the program would just crash.

    Thoughts?

    Welcome!
So all the old files are in .bld format?
If so, Envisioneer (of which ever flavour you’re using?) will upgrade the file & you can just continue adding to your model.
I still find using Locations to differentiate elements etc to be the most efficient way to manage everything

Use the old files? That’s so funny when you consider that one could not read FP8.2 files by FP9. These were back in the days when MS Jet was the db engine. Now the TFP15 files could possible be used, but all I did there was an attempt to create a Terrain unsuccessfully. Left walking the Failure’s Path of Shame. So now tackling Terrain again with the Envisioneer trial. OT: I worked the Envisioneer basic tutorial with the Envisioneer Trial on one box and TFP15 on another. With a few cosmetic tweaks to the user interface, couldn’t tell the difference. So why the move to Personal Architect (PA)? I’ll never use the doc, layout and cost tools of the pro versions. Looks like the basic building tools are the pretty much the same as TFP and the additions to the materials library probably will not be of much interest – I’m modeling a house that we began building in 1976. But a couple of improvements to the user interface like the Navigator and being able to skew a Trace jpg seem worthwhile. I’ve actually purchased PA, but Support said the V14 might be released this week, so I’m delaying the install. Busy enough testing Terrain stuff with the Trial. Even more OT and back on my Soapbox: I thought browsing with this Community style forum was bad, but posting with it is even worse. No edits, no reply notifications? Geez. Wanted to reply to Merv’s Comment, but when I press Reply the text box is cleared & locked. Not intuitive at all. And when I wanted to log off, I have to Add Post to see the log off? The Pits, I tell you, just The Pits.

And now that I’ve submitted my Comment, all of the formatting is gone and it’s a pain to read.  Grrrrr.
