How do I eliminate the corner of a wall to install glass or sliding doors that touch at the corner. I can’t get the “hole open” tool to take out the corner at my intersecting exterior walls.
Hello Kim,
Which version do you have? In version 15 there’s an option of putting in a corner window that will do what you want to do.
Conrad
I Have 15.0 C3, I’ll look into the windows catalog.
Thanks
I Have 15.0 C3, I want to insert a 90 Degree model of sliding glass doors downloaded from 3D. The instructions tell me to cut an opening in the corner of the building. I can cut an opening in each wall but cant remove the corned post.
Thanks
How does this look to you.
Just another thought is your Structural wall turned off in your veiw filter. that will take care of any framing problem.
Could you please take a snippet of it and put it on here so i can see. then i will try replicate it on my end.
Conrad
That example looks good. Did you open the area? I can’t figure out how to paste a PDF to show you.
I don’t see Structural wall in my filters.
Kim,
No what i did was took 2 fixed windows put it on either side of the corner>then went into their properties and made them 3’x6’8″ (you have to do this step first) and then hold down your shift key and select both windows and right click and chose the create corner window and pick the frame option in the properties if there’s a deck in front of it i don’t think they’ll know the difference. i will post a couple pics tomorrow with more details.
And if you want to add an attachment like a PDF. right below the box where you put your text in, it says: (Maximum file size allowed is 10 MB) click on the select file right below that and the will take you to the files on your computer and you can attached anything of your choice.
If you left click on the small + beside the walls in your view filter there should give a drop down with more choices and that should be one of them.
Sorry i cant put pics on to explain but I’m using my tablet and not in my office so i can’t. because i left my laptop there to.

Hi Kim,
(edit,,,, I see Conrad already explained this))….
Corner Window command can be found with right click.
For starters use a Picture Window, sized as needed. Add one on left and one on right of the corner. Both must be either inside or outside, they cannot be one in and one out. Right click and use Flip Opening to get them matching.
Now just left click to select one window, hold shift key select the second, right click with both selected and you will see Create Corner Window.
Then a pop up will allow you to chose how you want the corner to look. I selected glass to glass type corner without a corner frame.

Hey Kim,
Here are a couple pics that might explain better how to match the sliding doors you want. You will have to erase the openings you have there. And also place the windows in center of wall if you want to make them 12′ like it looks in your pic. And then after you adjusted the size slide them to the corners to make the corner window.
Then follow steps below.
Decided to post it even though you prolly don’t need it anymore.

And wanted to correct something it’s wall framing in the view filter. But it will not work for what you want to do. Just showed you for future use.

With your help, I was able to make large picture windows join at the corner.
Now I can see how to build my own sliding pocket doors instead of downloading them from 3D warehouse, The Kolbe doors in 3D warehouse did look great but I could not eliminate the corner to allow the insert.
2. What does it mean when my curser is a circle with an X in it?
Thank you,
Kim,
Question 1: Click on veiwing aids (not in my office anymore) I think that’s where its at, if not just click on the other Tabs like notations and you can also turn things off on the terrain by clicking on that tab. pic below.
Question2 : That means it’s snapping to something like a wall or something else, it usually appears to show you that your dimension is snapping to the wall. Turn your object snap off then you’ll see the difference. I like mine turned on unless I’m trying to put something in place and it’s snapping to an area i don’t want it to. Like a post sometimes when you want to put in a porch post it wants to snap to edge and i want it back 1 1/2″.
Glad to help Jack and Merv and The ones at Cadsoft helped me a lot.
Conrad
Thanks again here it is, for now.
