Surely it’s time Cadsoft recycled the code for fixed windows so users can specify a hinged door with a raked top. This is the 2nd time a client has aked for doors with raking heads to access storage space under stairs. Current door Shape options in v12 are only Rectangular, Arched or Apexed

Where do i find a Format Painter in this modern interface? I can’t paste stuff from an online debate without having to “Clear Formatting” every time . . .

Fudging it (aka workaround) is a pain. So it looks correct in 3D inc VR, I have to use custom windows and adjust their head height on an individual basis. Then put some dummy swings in the floor plan . . . . workarounds, workarounds, all I seem to do is workarounds . . . . .

    Then there’s all the time-consuming editing . . . oops, I forgot to Clear Formatting . . .

    1 elevation to be fudged
    1 section
    1 floor plan
Bracing Layout just shows the opening so more modification than what would normally be required there. (ie just Update SmartView) OOPS, No! Area of Elevation details will need to be changed – in other words, all the editing in the elevation SmartView willhave to be duplicated on the Bracing Layout
******* However the problem is Quality Assurance.*******
If the client changes something else & these SmartViews have to be updated, these same changes will have to be repeated. After a while it’s hard to remember what “adjustments” have been done over time.
The programme should have support for doors with a tapered top. But how many years did it take for Cadsoft to recognise that pivot doors actually exist in the real construction world?

First one has to measure the distances required. Then draw the line Use it to TRIM 12 lines (3 doors x 4 vertical lines each)
OFFSET it to represent the architrave. Then select the vertical lines representing vertical architraves to TRIM the inclined architraves & top edge of the door leaf. (there are a LOT of picks involved in that.
    Repeat on the Section.
on 2D Plan draw 3 rectangles for each leaf, rotate each as required, then draw 3 arcs to represent each swing . . .
    All takes time . . .

I am glad to hear you are enjoying the new Pivot doors in your designs!

You will also enjoy the fact that Envisioneer can import ANY shape of door and window! This allows you to get a file right from the manufacturer, so it is accurate, and import it into your design. No need to worry about the default shapes available. Use ANY shape and have a very custom design. Import door and windows in skp, dwg or 3ds format. If you are designing a truly custom door you can sketch it out in SketchUp and import it.

Go to File>Import>Object Wizard or Right click in the Door catalog and select “Add Element” to get working on your arch door today! Here is a video to help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-7xIgHMiy8&list=PLJUx62KVB6_VNoAX9kCvyruN6VgCMaISF&index=11
