I have tried searching the help, user guide and forum, trying to find what the various symbols attached to the cursor mean but cant find anything anywhere.
Some are obvious but I can never work out the difference between the circle with an X inside it compared with a circle with a ...x attached to it, though both are obviously related to object snapping..
Can someone tell me where I can find the explanations or at least explain the difference between these two?
Allan

I can't explain those to you. The only time I get circles with crosses attached to it is when it is accompanied by something that looks like a little man. Then I know the program is freezed up and I can abort. ; Stephan

Hi Stephan,
You must have seen them - they are to do with Object Snapping, or SnapTrack snapping - the Cursor changes when you are in line or actually at an object Snap point but I can't work out the difference as they both appear to be the same.
Try drawing a wall to intersect with another - both cursors will appear as you approach/croos the wall.

Allan, I see the following when I draw walls with snap track on: - A wall icon with a cross attached and the wall length. This tells you you are drawing a wall and have moved a specific distance from the start point.
- An arrow with a big X....x and a dimension on a dotted snaptrack line. This tells you that you are on plane with your destination. You can now also just type in your distance and enter. The wall will connect with the end point automatically.
- An arrow with circle with an X inside. This tell you you are at the end destination and you can click enter or click again with mouse.
This is my interpretation in common man's language.
Hope it helps Stephan

Another variation of what Stephan has discribed is when using the line or dimension tool (and others). With Snap Track ON and Object Snap ON, you get two options.
1 Large Circle with X through it. This represents a 'snap point' has been found. Such as mid point of object or wall, corner of wall.
2 NO Circle but X....x , this means you have found a Snap Track 'inline' with a 'snap point'.
For instance, draw a complete enclosed space. Go to a corner with snap track / object snap on and hoover at corner until it turns to circle with X in it. That is your corner snap point.
Now move your mouse away from the corner but still 'in line' with the center of the wall. You should be getting a X....x image, meaning when you click the dimension will start inline with the corner snap point but not ON the snap point.
The curson doesn't show up when I do print screen, but in the attached a red line was needed, which had to start at the center of the wall.
I selected the line tool, held cursor at corner until I 'found' the corner snap (circle with X), then moved the cursor 'up' the wall and noted when it became a X...x , meaning it was 'inline with the corner snap. I left clicked and began drawing the line to the right.
Remember that these nodes or snap points are associated with Pixel Search distance found in Drawing Aids tab of Program Settings, so you don't have to be exactly on line or over a node for them to activate.
Another example would be snaping a dimension line to the outside edge of sheathing in plan view. By default you cannot snap to the line representation EXCEPT when you hoover over the corner point of sheathing. So you can hoover over the outside corner of the sheathing and get your Circle with X , then move up along sheathing edge and set a dimension any time you see X...x.

Thanks Stephan and Jack,
This is how I understood it but at times they seem to reverse. Is it documented anywhere? It seems as if should be but I cannot find it anywhere.
