Picking a point is one method that I can reveal now. But my lips are tied for any other feature leaks. :-)

The next feature to be revealed is "Dynamic Dimension Improvements" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGvuHaQ6AJY&feature=youtu.be

See the full list here: http://www.cadsoft.com/v8.php

Additions and improvements to onscreen wall dimensions make wall editing quicker and easier.  A dimension and adjustment controls associated with the wall length allow for the following dimension enhancements:
-   You can click on this dimension and edit the wall’s length dynamically. New arrows in the Edit Dimension dialog let you specify the wall end that you want to adjust. Any walls attached to the edited wall adjust with it automatically.
-   Walls with a free end can now be adjusted easier to exact length
-   Duplicate dimensions at wall ends have been eliminated, creating a more clean and simple display.

New in V8 - Revision Clouds: By popular demand, Envisioneer now introduces a Revision Cloud feature.  Simply click a few points to quickly draw a revision cloud around a portion of your drawing you wish to call attention to. You can even apply a hatch pattern to the cloud for added visibility.  Revision Clouds have additional options to control line type, line width, and the size of the arcs that make up the cloud so you can customize exactly how you want the cloud to appear.

Hi Chantale,

Picking a point is one method that I can reveal now. But my lips are tied for any other feature leaks. :-)
I presume this means that you cannot answer a question about the new Terrain Tool video - but I will ask it anyway:

The YouTube clip shows all the usual Terrain tools ,with an extra one for importing terrain data. Does this mean that this new tool can only be used with imported data?  If the answer to that is Yes and you do not have that 'official' data, is it be possible to 'mock it up' so to speak by creating the data points (maybe in Excel columns and rows?), then adjusting the data points after import?

I presume you will now say "Patience is a virtue!"  Wink

I have looked at the txt output from my total station and it exports more than x,y,z data.... so I assume Env 8 will have a wizard that allows you to select the data columns and maybe delete rows which are not required.. ridge and eaves levels, tops of walls for example...

Or do we have to import into excel.. do the mods and export the .txt file for input into Env 8...

Can't wait to play...

Would also be nice to know if its possible to link the data from several sources.. for example OS map data or Google height data for the general area and then the accurate Topo Survey data for the construction site...

And how is the terrane adjusted afterwards...

The Survey terrane will be adjusted during constrcution..

i.e. if we use the point level tool does it override the original imported data??

We need more info...

Please?Huh

From the web page: http://www.cadsoft.com/v8.php
Quote
You can specify whether you want a wall material to be measured from the interior or exterior surface of the wall in addition to the center line
SmartWalls™ !!
Quote
You can now choose whether or not you want openings to be ignored when wall materials are being quantified
evenSmarterWalls™ !!
Quote
The portion of the exterior veneer that is dropped down to cover the rim joist is now quantified
OhSoSmartWalls™ !! But are they RealSmartWalls™ where the external veneer can be specified to only extend up to the soffit on a single storey building or top floor of a multi-storey building?
Whether that soffit is horizontal or raked . . .
I'd like to see that (as would every other Aussie user)
