Is there any way to define what is known here as a Quad Hung door?
These consist of 4 hinged doors in one frame and typically are used for built-in cupboards.

Obviously I can put two double doors together and get the same effect but the Door Schedule will list and count these as two double doors rather than a four door set. Obviously also I can adjust the schedule so that it appears correct, but if there is a way to define such a door set I would prefer to do that.  The closest I can see are bi-fold doors but hinging is clearly different and will certainly look like folding doors in plan view.

I could also export two double doors as a 3DS and use that, but the schedule will ignore that of course.

Any suggestions welcome.

Hi Allan,

I don't think this is the perfect solution, but I think it can work for now. I used a 1200 double french door and added sidelites both sides. I then made the door width 30mm and the two sidelites 1200mm each. I then assigned the openings for each "door" and added a paint colour to the glass. You can go into more detail by changing the thickness of glass etc. to make it look more like a door, but I think for schedules it can work fine. Hope it helps.

5min later...... Sorry Allan, I tried to load ajpg/bmp sample, but seems like my internet or the system is playing up on me.
Regards
Stephan

G'day Allan!
Any chance of a photo of one in the wild + a scan of how they'd normally be represented on a plan?
If it's as I suspect, Stephan's solution combined with a block used on worksheet would be the easiest solution. The block just consists of 4 dotted lines to indicate leaf positions when all 4 are ajar.

Hi Allan,

All good suggestions to this point.

What I would do is use a double casement window with details set as needed to mimic a door and even set the door swings to show as needed (see window settings as in attached).

You can delete the window in the window schedule in sheet view.
You can add a wall with a dummy door added, anywhere in the drawing, naming and describing the door to match what you need (matching the window size ) and it will show up in the door schedule

About the hardest thing to do is to get the door symbol matching which could be done by deleting the window symbol, copy and paste one of the other door symbols and match the number on the schedule to the dummy door info.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Since all require some manipulation of the schedule or plan I have opted to just use two double doors pushed right up to each other. It lists in the Schedue with a Count of two of course so I have to edit the Schedule and change it to one and then delete one of the two marks that appear on the plan, centreing the other.

Bit of a nuisence, as I have to remember to make the changes if the Door Schedule is edited at all, but hopefully that should not happen too often!

When you have to openings "squashed" up against each other you can corrupt your model. The model must think of how to frame 2 separate openings with all of the studs and not enough room. Never squash windows or doors side by side.

Hi Chantale,

Thanks for the warning - I had not thought about what it would do with the framing.
I seems to have handled it OK by the section view but I can see how it could be an issue.

Any chance of putting a request in for a 'quad' frame door for a future release?  Wink
We use them all the time here.

I will add that to the list for you, v8 features are locked now so it will have to be a future release.

And cavity sliders that cut a large enough opening in the frame for the doors to actually open!

G'day Chantale!
with v8 still "future" shouldn't that read "a more future release"  Grin
