In v6 I could save the cut list to file & print out cutting instructions.
Can't seem to find it in v7.2 Construction Suite.
The Cut List tab seems to have disappeared on me . . .

Hi Merv,

I have not used this before, but there is no Cut List tab on my 'Specify Report Template' dialog either.

Hi Merv / Allan,

You can't see the cut list because you haven't posted an image for this months 'Office' rendering  Roll Eyes It would be nice to see you guys submit something.

------------------

This is what I see from a Generate Project Estimate option under Cut List

I would love to, but the problem is that my "home office" is piled high with so many things to do, that my conscience won't let me just 'play' Sad (plus my wife as a long list of jobs for me to do outside!!  Roll Eyes - Maybe it will rain here soon and I will have an excuse to stay in and pretend I am working on reducing the height of the pile!  Grin )

Re the Cut List - I do see the dialog in the image you posted but when you click Add Template, the Cut List tab is not on the Specify Report Template dialog.

Hi Jack,,

Just for fun I have added below a "home office" I did a few years ago (you can tell the age by the phone and printer Cheesy ). It was created as menu screen for a program I made (called PayBook) for a friend of my wife's. It replicated her home office - her husband owned a milk distribution business and she handled the payroll.

I rendered several views with different things turned on or off so that in the final program the various options on the screen changed as you moved the mouse over them. For example, the laptop opened when the front of it was double clicked (and a login was presented), the printer spat out some paper, drawers opened, mobile phone turned around and lit up, the mouse moved, the money went into the pay packet and the old paybook on the left opened to become a fullscreen historical pay / superanuation / health benefits / taxation record for all their employees. Obviously all the animated options opened up other screens, (Print reports, employee phone numbers etc).

This company is still using the program and, believe it or not, is still paying in CASH!

Hi Allan,

I know you and others are busy, but the highest vote getter of the month receives a FREE upgrade to the next program release. That is a substantial gift offer by Cadsoft.

and

Images promote interest.
Interest increases sales.
Sales increase product development.
Better product = better end results.
Improved end product is good for all.

and better product will make your pile go down faster!!

and then you can go fishing, which clears the mind, up lifts the spirit and creates memories as it was intended to do!

Hi Jack,

You had sold me - until you mentioned fishing!!!!!

I went fishing ONCE, 58 years ago and was absolutely bored stiff!! Now if I could jog up and down the beach, surf the waves, swim, and fish at the same time, it might be OK.  Grin

There is however, in my opinion, one thing worse than fishing - cricket!!

I do admit though that the surroundings where people go fishing "clears the mind, up lifts the spirit and creates memories".  Wink

Maybe I need to go fishing with my laptop, work on Envisioneer and just tie the fishing line around my big toe! Grin

Now you get what fishin is all about Allan.

The Laptop idea is great. You see when fishin you don't always catch fish, so that boredom you talked about was your inability to sit still, enjoy what is around you. That's why you have those stacks of files on your desk, you have to always be doing something.

So, there you have it!  Tell the wife your work has piled up so high you have to take a break and go fishin. Then go fishin on your computer, make a nice water scene, grab a boat from GGle Warehouse. And make that laptop with fishin line around your toe into your Office submission for this month.

Fishin has little to do with fishin, it's where you are, who your with. If it's with a couple of kids, then you really learn about the good things in life.

back in a second

----------------------------------

Here you go Allan, zip file is bld with fishing boat included :-)

In reality, you have a ton of work, modifying some of the previous work and submiting it would be of interest to a lot of users.

G'day Jack!
All very good in theory! except most of my fishing memories I'd prefer to forget - fish seem to have a natural allergic reaction to my presence. The only way I found to overcome the strength of this allergy was to go fishing with my uncle and his brother. Together their natural attractiveness to fish more than negated the allergy . . . Grin

G'day Chantale!
 . . . back on topic . . .
Rather than repeat what Brian did in APDesign, what was duplicated in Build! and then came with Envisioneer's framing module until v6, would it not be simpler to just append the Cut List to the end of the text file generated when the user elects to Save & Close? There'd be no need to modify the dialogues, just the code behind the Save & Close button.
I don't know about anyone else but my principal use is for tracking down discrepancies in a Project Estimate. It's almost 11 months since v7 arrived & this is the first time I've needed to do a File Compare between 2 Cut Lists.

Hi Jack,

Too late for the voting but I took up your challenge anyway ...

You can't see the cut list because you haven't posted an image for this months 'Office' rendering  Roll Eyes It would be nice to see you guys submit something.

Not the typical office (or is it?  Grin ).
I suspect most home offices probably look like this (not the ideal ones, with not a thing out of place, that our wives like to see!  Roll Eyes ).

Hopefully the reason it is like this, is not what we see outside the window.  (If you go to the Facebook home page you will have to open the image, because unfortunately the squared version of the images as shown on the home page, chop it off).

Is your office like this?

Be honest!!

Your turn now Merv!  Wink
