When I do a Smartview global update I am presented with a list of over 60 named Smartviews, each ticked, presumably for update.  However I only have about 10 actual Smartviews on the worksheets.  I may have done 60 in various tests but surely it does not remember all these deleted ones and is going to update them?

Each Smartview in the list is named but I cannot see any names on the views I am still using. Since the updates takes I while I do not want to update deleted views. Where are the names of the views displayed? Is there a setting somewhere, so that it only updates views that are being used?

I notice as I select each one, that a worksheet name appears in the Reference section which obviously identifies the ones being used. Can I safely un-tick the ones without a sheet reference? Why would it try to update views not being used? Is there some way to stop this or global way to delete any unused views?

Delete out any unreferenced views to condense the list to only views that you have inserted.
Insert>Smartviews>Delete Unreferenced Views

Thanks Chantale,

Sorry I did not see that option.

No worries. That's why this forum is so great, you can easily be pointed in the right direction.
