Importing 3ds files and all materials are reflective

Just reported this to Cadsoft and its a know bug.
Finished the detailed house designs and now need to position all of them on the site layout plan so that I can produce the site views etc.
So I have saved each house as a .3ds and imported it back in through the object wizard.
All the materials are rendering too reflective to use.
This means I have to spend several house per house reapllying the texture maps.
So the client - they want a minor change and I have to do the updates.. export - import and apply the textures again.
So far I have wasted over 8hrs doing this!!!
Has anyone found a work around yet while we wait for CADSOFT to fix the bug?
Was there this problem with Env 6?
I am thinking I might need to downgrade just to get the project done?
Or CADsoft do you have a simple fix yet?

G'day Jon!
Only solution atm that I know of is to have all buildings in the one bld, using Locations to differentiate.
I've been dreaming of being able to import bld files into a master bld for so long I can't remember.
Sorry I'm not any help
