In Program Settings / Global Settings, when you choose United Kingdom, the only city choice is Gibraltar (which is somewhat remote although 'part' of the UK).  I assume this is general and not just this way in my program.

It is probably not really an issue as most of the cities are variously listed under the countires that make up the UK: England, Scotland, Wales (but no Northern Ireland) or under Great Brittain. Even here there seem to be anomolies though, in that England does not include London (the Capital) and Scotland does not include its largest cities Glasgow and Edinborough, although these are included under Great Brittain - along with Belfast from Northern Ireland. Ireland also does not incude it's largest city of Dublin either although it is listed as the only city under Eire.

I wonder whether this must be confusing for those in the UK - especially if they start with United Kingdom and only get Gibraltar.  Does anyone know if this has been previously raised with Support?

Hi

I looked through our notes and nothing has been sent in but what I have found is generally people are adding in their own longitude and latitude information to create their own city information when they want the specifics.

It's great to see your own city in the list but most will have to create their own depending on the region.

I'm in the UK - England - Cornwall to be specific.

Not really been an issue -  I just use either Plymouth or Penzance which for general work is close enough as England is not that big compared to OZ, Canada or the USA.

For a project that needs the detail I would input it from the GPS site data.

Would prefer that CADSOFT spent time fixing the bugs rather than inputting new cities.

Expanding the Plant library to include common English plants would be a far better use of time...

Hi Chantale,

I looked through our notes and nothing has been sent in but what I have found is generally people are adding in their own longitude and latitude information to create their own city information when they want the specifics.

It is not just that the UK cities seem to be split up in various ways but if you are in the UK you cannot edit or add a city at the correct time, because the GMT (UTC) time setting does not work - it reverts to the first setting in the list, which is Kabul time GMT+4:30 hours. All UK cities are set to this time, as are those in Portugal, Morocco, Sierra Leone and others that should be on the GMT time zone.

You can set one of these cities to +1.00 or -1.00 hours but that is the closest you can get. This applies to any city in the world - nothing can be set to GMT

I am just guessing but all the time zones listed as UTC only (London, Casablanca, Monrovia) do not have a plus or minus X hours - for obvious reasons, as they are 0 hours but maybe the code behind is the same. If it was set to +0.00 hours it may be OK or mabe it is but you cannot add or take away zero, so the code does not work - just a thought - one for the programmers obviously.
