How can I create elements from scratch (I really only need 2D, but i' d try 3D if it were not too hard)?  I' ve seen reference to 3DS files, how are they made, what software would I need?

" Hello

You can edit elements that are already defined in the catalog or you can import new ones. In 3D Home Architect you can import 3DS files, which are 3D Studio files, a standard for 3D blocks.  If you do a search on the Internet for 3D Studio blocks you should find a large number.

" You say that I can edit elements, but only those things that  you give us access too.  For example I cannot modify the wall element to have shading or hatching can I?  I just purchased a 3ds authoring program, can I "" export""  the wall element, modfy it and then import it?

Can I create a whole new "" group""  called DWV plumging pipe; create all the various plumbing pipe fittings and then use 3DHA to assemble my drain-waste-&-vent tree for the house I am designing?  If yes, what other information will I need that is not provided for in the documentation that came with my CD to develop these items?

If such a thing is possible, how about hosting a site where people like me can post our creations for others to use freely.  i' d cetainly be willing to share my work with others.  I' m a great advocate of the open-source movement."

" You can create your own symbols - furniture, appliances, etc. But walls doors and windows must be created from an existing object - they are the basis of the software and hold more information than you can recreate.

Piping - if you can make a 3DS block of what you need that bring it in and use it, but remember it is a block and we don' t have any plumbing fitting tools in the software. You' ll have to create them and piece them together accordingly.

You have the ability to post items to your message(under 2MB) and I welcome you to post your work to messages."

" HOW TO ATTACH A POST
When you are writing a new post, you will notice below the writing area a section called "" file""  in that area you will see "" Click here to upload!"" . Click on the link and then browse to find the file and it will attach it. Click OK. When you view your post it will appear at the bottom of the body of the message as "" Attachment""  link that you can click on and download.

SAVE the download to your hard drive, don' t attempt to open an attachment."

" When I post a message the FILE feature says "" Either the feature is disabled, or you do not have sufficient permission.""

 I do I "" enable""  or get "" sufficient permission""  whichever I' m lacking?"

What file type are you trying to upload? I will add it to the list of allowed file types. You are restricted to a file size of 3MB.

I am not trying to upload any file, the feature is not available at all.  I cannot select the feature because it is disabled.  The quoted phrase is not a dialog response to something I do, it is directly on the message input form to the right of the " File"  box below the smileys.
