How do you " hatch"  walls?  I am attempting to distinguish between studded walls and masonry walls or existing walls in the 2D view.  I could do this in earlier versions however I can find absolutely nothing on this topic in any of the tutorials.

" I asked the same question to Broderbund support and was told that we now have to do this by hand with a pen or pencil on the printout -- hatching or shading of walls is no longer supported in the new and improved version.

I did figure out how to make dashed line walls to represent old walls which are to be removed, however.  Insert a retangular opening the same size as the wall, "" elevate""  it to the height of the wall (default is 6/8"" ) and the 2D plan shows dashed lines, the 3D view shows nothing."

Could anyone else offer any suggestions to this problem?  Thanks!

" Hi

You have hit the number one feature request. Currently not available in a 2D Plan View. I have added it to the Development Wish list as a heavily requested feature.

Here are a couple tricks you can use.

Create a new location called HATCH. (Go to Settings-Building Locations) Place a Closet Rod (Under the Interiors tab go to the Furniture Section and the Closet Rod is in the Bedroom Furniture category) on that location, outlining the walls. It will appear as wall hatch when you are on the other locations. You can freeze this location when you no longer want or need the hatching.

Add the Landscape "" Post Edging""  for dashed wall lines (Under the Landscape Tab, choose the Edging option and chose the Post Edging element). Again add it inside of the wall lines so they appear dashed. Landscape materials can be frozen independantly aswell.

" Hi Chantale,

Thank you very much for your explanation and for your suggestion.  I will do just as you pointed out as soon as I can get my plan to print in scale.

 Thanks again!"

" Chantal

Add me to the "" number one feature request""  list. But more to the point, in my case...

I' m doing a remodel and need to distinguish new, demo and existing construction. My workaround has been to create a "" location""  for each, hoping there was a way the program would be able to render each appropriately (solid fill, no fill, and dashed linestyle). Apparently there' s not a way to do that, so I will employ the workarounds described here.

If it was possible to set line and fill styles per location, it would work very well. But the other problem is that the program won' t allow collisions between locations, even with collision control disabled.

So my most requested feature would be to have support for new vs. existing vs. demo contruction built in to the program. It seems like you' re very close, now. And i' d have to believe home remodels have to be a major part of the use of this product."
