Just read about the epic floods in QLD.  Hope everyone is OK.

General summary: Eastern seaboard=WET (making up for 8-10 years of drought)
South West Coast still in drought, iirc Perth is expecting 40°C today
Northern Oz, WET & it seems the monsoon's come a bit early.
Haven't heard from Keith or Scott in Bundy. Farm I grew up on up there would have been under 2-3m of water. Prob still is as the river's only dropping slowly.
Spare a thought for those out west (Dalby, Theodore etc) This is the 2nd "one in 50 year" flood they've had in <12 months.

and tonight Dalby's being flooded for the 5th time in 3 weeks.

Toowoomba was just horrific, no warning and rose at an incredible rate.

Back in Bundy we had a river peak of 7.95m on the 30th of Dec. The river is still going up and down and is still at 3.65m and rising. It is expected to rise to 5-5.5m on this Thursday night (13th Jan).
Our average high tide is 1.36m. At 7.95m it was our biggest flood since 1942 (8.48m) with our river banks full at 4.0m. Town was cut to just one road in. At 5.0m some houses and business will go under again (Flood heights- Minor 3.5m, Mod 5.5m, Major 7.0m).
My house and work all dry ish, work under ground carpark had 500mm of water in it. 
Scott was also fine. I had to let him go back in July due to the downturn, a painful decision, but he has found other employment in a computer shop.

I have friends in Toowoomba & Fernvale that I'm unable to contact.
M8 in California (been there since 88) is "watching" his container stored on a friend's property near the Bremer River. iirc it contains all his Oz possessions inc 2 trials bikes. Last year when he was here he got them out, put new fuel in & they both started with a cpl kicks after being in storage for 6 years! His friend assures him it's about 2m above the 74 flood level.
After water police trying to intercept a pontoon with 3 or 4 large boats still attached floating down the river, the last thing they want is containers!

This is only the beginning of the "wet" season in Qld so now that everything is saturated, any rain that falls will be instant runoff.
There are still a few towns on flood alert, Goondiwindi being the current hotspot

Here in Cooroy I can't remember the last day without rain. Got my washing dry yesterday despite several showers.
Shelves are bare in many shops. Army started airlifting supplies to several areas yesterday. Bruce Highway (up the east coast from Brisbane to Cairns) is still cut in several places but should reopen Saturday arvo.
Just be careful of videos on YouTube as I've seen a few are just old footage used to redirect ppl to get hits on other sites.
I was hoping to go to Laidley tomorrow to do a "measure up" but my client isn't even certain that he'll be able to get home. He works in a mine outside Emerald in Central Qld - which also flooded the other week
