Hold tight release is out shortly.
Still waiting for an answer to
does the pdf module work on worksheets as well?
Does it allow users to generate their own pdfs & insert bookmarks & hyperlinks in them as well?

Morning Merv

I would suggest that we have the opportunity to do a trial run with the PDF addon as well."esp. @ $500". Wouldn't like to spend that kind of money just to find out that it is not what I want.

Hi Merv

Yes the PDF import works on worksheets. You can even explode apart a pdf into individual lines as well on a worksheet.

It isn't a pdf writer so you can't create a pdf with the importer.

Thank you! Great news. Does this mean that if the pdf was created as searchable, the text will be also text entities on the worksheet?

Guess I'll just have to keep dreaming (wishlisting). Was hoping we could at least edit a pdf to insert bookmarks & hyperlinks.
I'm told pdfEdit from pdf995 can do this but the problem is it only works on the last pdf created in pdf995. I use pdfMachine & afaic it walks all over pdf995.

Hi Merv - I created a pdf of a window schedule from Envisioneer and then inserted it onto a sheet and exploded it and it recognizes that it is text but each letter is a separate string. I will pass along that it would be excellent if it could recognize words and not explode it to individual letters.

Thanks Chantale!
I've raised this issue previously that when Env explodes anything it seems to reduce it to the smallest possible. It's just too good at what it does. eg when exploding a view on a worksheet, instead of having hatching on a patterned view, it ended up with individual line segments (the length as specified in the pattern definition so that every time the pattern repeats there's another line segment added to the end of the first!)
The same happens when one tries to edit a not-so-SmartView.

Paragraph text would be even better than words. Please don't take us back to the days of DTEXT used by AP/Build's Descriptions command. (although that's still preferable to individual words)

Merv

PS don't get me wrong, I'm all for SmartViews. But I'll keep pushing for REAL LIVE VIEWS until they're a reality.

G'Day Chantale and Merv

and please look at the long standing, time wasting annoyance of exploding circles into very small arcs.

I hope the team is having the weekend off - they deserve it!
1.Just wondering if the pdf module can handle multi-page pdfs or will we have to unstack in Paperport or some other pdf editor?
2.When will the Webinar participants be able to download? Plz don't rush it out. We'd much prefer the explode function just break a pdf into lines, circles & paragraph text objects . . .
