" Hi Keith
You have to go to the Materials Library to edit the materials, not through the Properties of an element.
1. Select Tools-Libraries-Materials.
2. In the Materials dialog box, all of your materials will appear. Click on the plus sign beside Paint to reveal your paint materials.
3. Highlight your black paint material and then at the bottom of the dialog box, click on the delete button which is functional in this dialog box.
To Create a New Materials Library:
1. Remaining in the Materials dialog box, click on the Transfer button.
2. Specify a new Materials library file name and click OK.
3. The Transfer dialog box will appear allowing you to import or export materials to and from each Materials library file.
A drawing will always load with the default materials.mlb but you can import materials to or from that library in new drawing sessions using the Transfer utility.
