Would love it if this or somthing like it would integrate with Env.

At the moment I take Env 7 to site on my laptop and measure and enter the data as I go.

But it would be much better on an ipad?

Also tried it on my Samsung Q1 tablet but screen is too small - maybe a new tablet would solve the probem but I have an ipad and think it might be a better solution.

Anyone have a better solution?

Paper and pencil is another alternative...

G'day Jon!
Yes, a laptop on site can be awkward but unless Cadsoft produce a utility that will run on a tablet (and I'd be surprised if they'd get locked in to Apple after browsing an article on Apple's T&C's for their iBook Author software - no-one in their right mind would agree to place themselves at their total mercy)
The things that attracted me to Env in the first place was the concept of dynamic dimensions & it's ability to accept input via bluetooth from a Disto Plus. I just sketch a rough layout with ORTHO ON, select a wall, select the dimension to correct, set Disto to 2nd function level, point Disto, measure distance then press ENTER & Env has adjusted the wall . . .
Even if software on iPad could export as dxf, dwg, skp etc there's still a lot of time involved tracing over it . . .
I note also that Disto with BT are now about half the price I paid way back then and the new ones have even more features! Shrubbery in the way? no problem. inbuilt inclinometer means you can measure up to 45° from horizontal & Disto still gives the horizontal dimension
****Disclaimer:- I hold no shares or other interest in Leica (but wish I did!)

I too use a disto with Env 7 and it saves me hours on site - its just that I find the laptop hard to hold and align within a room. I like to rotate my screen to match what I am measuring.

Thing is ipad is just right size for onsite use where as laptop or toughbook is just too big and heavy.

I read the link as saying that the ipad data would load straight into Archicad as a BIM.

So CADsoft need a bridge to take the BIM model and convert it to Env format.

I'm sure Revit wont be far behind? There is a bridge between Revit and Archicad -not sure how well it works?

Also Autocad have released a .dwg viewer for the ipad??

I tried a demo of to sitemaster Building Survey on Q1 but its only 2d and to be honest I find Env 7 and the Disto much better.

Maybe I need a newer WIndows based tablet to run Env 7 or Floorplan 3d??

+1 It's very easy to get disoriented

Better option would be for Cadsoft to provide an app to run on an iPad where user can enter generic data for elements then import into Env where the user can Replace them with items from the catalogue, adding appearance etc . .
. . or even better still, Envisioneer v8 for the iPad! Is an A5 just a customized i5 cpu?
After more than 15 years Autodesk have "seen the light" according to my macaholic stepson - (and once again ported AutoCAD to the mac) Maybe Cadsoft will once again set the pace . . .
IBS anyone? only a cpl weeks away iirc . . .
