G'day Jon!
I like the idea but wonder how they'd perform in cyclonic conditions.
+1 to "The Top-Hung sections also rotate to 180º for easy cleaning."

Back to your question though, best I can think of is use a separate skylight to represent each pane of the Balcony system.
For the terrace system, I'd do the same for the upper panes then cut an opening in the roof where the terrace goes. Add 3 walls then insert a fixed window in the centre with casements either side.
Balustrade & you're finished . .
Hopefully Cadsoft are working on hinged skylights or roof windows in v8

Hi John,

Personally, I would create the window in EV, then export to SKP, tilt it to the desired pitch, add my slab(balcony), import back into EV, cut hole in roof and add balustrade. If you need a more complicated balustrade, will make that in SKP as well.

Thanks for that...

Guessed I was going to have to model it in Sketchup or Turbocad Pro and import it in but was hoping that maybe somone had a better idea as I need to show them open and closed.

Hello John
For info, 'Velux' in Austria has created an amazing application in AutoCAD that creates  all the Velux models (in 2D-3D, in open/closed position) and become then blocks ready to use as dwg.
But for this, you need a full AutoCAD and to understand German ... ! Wink

Lisp application and pdf available at:

http://www.velux.at/fachkunden/architektenplaner/planenundausschreiben/cadbibliothek

Here is a sample view after import in Envisioneer.
Is it what you are looking for ?

Replace Mervs 3 windows with 3 resized doors that represent the lower 'windows'. After inserting the doors, set the wall height to equivalent of 1/8".

Use a Surface with an opening cut in it to represent the open upper 'window'. Add glass surface as needed. On a new location add duplicate the same surface and change it's pitch to closed.

Turn surface OFF / ON to show Open/ Closed state.

I couldn't get to the website but found this image. That is what I based this info on.

Thanks Jack and LT for the ideas.

I am trying the Autocad Lisp idea first.

Ich lernte in der Schule Deutsch, so dass wir sehen werden, wie viel ich mich erinnere

Just spoken to Velux UK and they dont supply the 3d modeling libary here because there is no demand?Huh?

Can any of you guys in Canada or USA see if its available there in English? and I guess Austraila if they have it there??

OK I have got it to run... thanks to help of Google Translate

Are you running IE9 , do you have BING toolbar installed? (by the way, if anyone hasn't tried BING maps yet, they should and in most cases will only use Google for street views, BING rocks with it's top views)

Anyhow, go to Velux in German page, right click and click 'Translate with Bing'.

Attached is front page result.  (the Forum reversed the jpg names)

Link gives info on LISP programing language. Interesting.

Hello John
When you are in the main dialog box, there are two options for 3D:

3D geschlossen = 3D closed
3D geöffnet = 3D open ?

Does it match for you ?

Hi Jack,

(by the way, if anyone hasn't tried BING maps yet, they should and in most cases will only use Google for street views, BING rocks with it's top views)

Bing seems to be good for the USA but am afraid that it is not a patch on Google for Australia, as the comparison image clearly shows. This is the same view of part of the roof of one of the Perth city hotels.  The maps themselves look OK but the 'photo' view is almost useless.

That may be an interesting roof to make in Envisioneer!!
