Yes, the drivers are not compatible with virtual XP it says - I should try to look for other drivers, but could the XP drivers be the reason?

Interesting, I hadn't thought of that...

Does it come with drivers for XP? What make/model mouse?

It's the Microsoft Intellitype Pro 7.0 software, for the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000.

I think the drivers would work on Windows XP, but they don't on Windows Virtual XP Mode.

Thanks, but that didn't get me anywhere either.

Thanks for your help, I might look for a new mouse, this one is annoying me anyway haha Smiley

Actually, after a bit more researching, I have discovered the problem is common with CAD users in XP Mode:

http://www.google.com.au/search?q=cad+pointer+crosshair+%22xp+mode%22&rls=com.microsoft:en-au:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGHP_en&redir_esc=&ei=OeJATfDeG4ayuAPAwrW7Aw

And I still haven't found a solution - I'm not sure I will, it seems a lot of mouse drivers will not work in XP Mode, as you install them in W7 intially, and don't need to install them in XP Mode.

Has anybody found this problem also?

For the record, I came across the solution.

1. Within XP Mode, disable integration features.

2. Go to display, advanced, and in troubleshoot you reduce the hardware acceleration by 1 step.

This fixed the issue. But it's a bit of a pain, because now I lose the integration features of XP mode. Seems there is no easy solution to get it all running properly in XP Mode... Sad

Hi Merv,

Have run into another problem - when I go to copy an object, the cursor lags waaay behind the mouse, as if the hardware cannot keep up. I have a powerful machine, but I understand Virtual XP doesn't use the system graphics card?

Do you know if there's any way to speed it up so build can keep up?

Find it hard to believe that Virtual XP comes with technology behind the maximum output of a program so old, but maybe I was hoping for more...

Cheers Smiley

G'day Daniel!
Does it only happen once you've created the model or even when starting from scratch?
How much RAM in the machine & how much of that have you allocated to XPmode?
Other than that, I'm out of ideas atm. Health has taken a dive due to heat/humidity. Yesterday, even though I'd slept well I felt as if I'd been working 24 hours straight (half brain-dead, unable to concentrate . . .zombie?) but still couldn't get to sleep. I'm juggling 2 jobs atm so still haven't setup my tower again (with XPmode installed) since moving to the Sunny Coast.

G'day Merv Smiley
It is happening in new and old jobs - well new jobs from existing templates though.
I have 8gb RAM now, and have allocated 3gb to XP Mode. It uses less than 1gb most of the time.
I know how you feel, I went overseas and when came back got a flu, which developed into a throat infection, and I have been a zombie for the past week!
It is when I copy and or move multiple objects - 3D objects, or even a few lines of text! It is being slowed down when, you know while you are moving or copying something, and as you move the cursor, a "ghost" of the image follows the cursor? It is the regeneration of that "ghost" with every pixel of movement that it cannot keep up. It is very annoying, it can be delayed 5-10 seconds some times, and as you move the mouse, whatever trail you take, the "ghost" goes on that trail but at 1/10 the speed, very frustrating.

I understand XP Mode was not made to run 3D programs, I am fine most of the time - the main 2 issues seem to be:

1. double the cursors - the mouse pointer follows the crosshairs, no matter what (unless you remove integration mode, which allows copy/paste from Win 7 to Virtual XP).
2. this hardware acceleration problem.

I am contemplating partitioning my HDD so I can run Build in XP solely, but I have everything else set up for Win 7. Geez it's frustrating that Microsoft are forcing these older programs to just die a slow death Sad

That seems more than enough.

How much do you copy/paste between the 2 OS's?
iirc acad has a bunch of settings on its mouse tab - under Preferences? I'd try playing in there.
